Happy Anniversary Boy Scouts

Today is the 100 year anniversary of the Boy Scouts.  Let’s hear it for scouting!!!  Do you know their oath?

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Wow – imagine this oath was established 100 years ago.  Imagine the good this oath would have nationwide TODAY.  Scouting is one of the unsung hero’s of history.  This is the mission statement of the Boy Scouts:

The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.  Another timeless set of ideas that apply to our world today.

You can usually spot a boy scout collecting canned food around the holidays and selling popcorn during other times of the year.  They raise funds to help support their programs.  They are engaged in many community programs ranging from helping the elderly to clearing yard waste.

Now couldn’t we use more boy scouts in the world?

Cheers for the Boy Scouts!  A fabulous tradition built on timeless character cornerstones.

Hip-hip-HOORAY!!!
